A New Video Series on Canning

Seasonal Recipes with a Twist!

How To Can Video Series on PBS

I just want to update you on the new canning video series I have going on over at Growing A Greener World TV. Each week, we release a short (under 2 minute) video featuring some of my canning secrets, tips and how-tos. The videos have a full post with printable recipe included. (And I love the catchy music we used with each one. Thanks to our TV director Carl for find the perfect fit here.)

I wanted these videos to be fun, informative and playful.

Each one covers one of the following:

  • Traditional basic canning recipes (dill pickles, jam, etc.)
  • Recipes with a twist (skipping the pectin, making wine salt and more)
  • Fun ways to use preserves (cocktails, sauces, dressings)

Here is a listing of videos we have released so far:

Behind-the-Scenes:

We spent 4 fun-filled days filming this series in late spring. Our TV production crew used FOUR high definition cameras and all their TV chops to make the videos awesome. I had cameras over head, in front, to the side and one that moved all around me while I canned. We got every angle of those jams, pickles and cocktails!

Then we sat around and consumed the pickles, applesauce and of course the jam cocktails I was whipping up. A good time was had by all!

I wore a different vintage apron (from my massive collection) for each recipe. (In case you didn’t know, I love to wear aprons to cook, can and even garden. I scour flea markets and garage sales for the special one-of-a-kind versions.) Due to the high cuteness factor of the aprons, we decided to create a cover photo of each recipe featuring a different apron and the finished canned good.

The weekly canning series continues through October – so be sure to check it out. And please share the videos on social media to help us get the word out!

Thanks and Happy Canning!
